Jesus and The Leper
I Do Choose

A leper came to Jesus and said to him, “If you choose, you can make me clean.” Jesus smiled, stretched out his hand, and said to him, “I do choose. Be made clean!” Immediately, the leprosy left him, and he was made clean.

“I hold the stones in my hand and stare at the ox head and the shepherd’s crook. I once drew the symbol carved on the box on the floor of the cave in Fál. The image of OM looks so much like the ox head and shepherd’s crook. It is the same in the east as it is in the west and everywhere in between.
“I gaze at the hilltop a final time. When this righteous man took his first breath, I was there, and I was here to see him take his last.
“The two have become one. Knowing what I know, this is not the end, but the beginning.”

Seeds of the Word
Ever since September 2013, I’ve attended the “Seeds of the Word, a Book Club for the Soul” book club at the Redemptorist Renewal Center. The conversation is invigorating. While spirituality is an element of every book we read, we discuss both fiction and non-fiction. Books range from Barabbas by Par Lagerkvist to Everything That Rises Must Converge by Flannery O’Connor, from Night by Elie Wiesel to The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis. I decided to start recording the sessions for members who might not be able to attend. Given the size of a 60-minute audio file, I decided to make them available by ‘sharing’ them with Google Drive. I also decided to make the discussions available to subscribers to this website.
This afternoon, we discussed the first half of James Martin’s book Jesus, A Pilgrimage. My friend Lidia Allen moderated the session.
