I write this post for one reason: to bear witness to acknowledge faith in Jesus and the power of prayer.
Three years ago on September 22, 2022, I was diagnosed with Stage 4, aggressive prostate cancer (Gleason 9) that had metastasized to my bones and liver. Simply put, my cancer is incurable.

Like the leper in the Gospel of Matthew 8:1-2, I immediately turned to Jesus and prayed, “If you choose, you can make me clean.” He did choose. On August 3, 2023 after six months of aggressive chemotherapy, my oncologist confirmed I was in remission.

I’ve had lab work every 6 months since. This week was another round of tests. While I don’t meet with Dr. Arce until next Monday, I’ve learned to read lab results well enough to know I remain in remission; my PSA is negligible.
My Bible rests in a holder on my desk open to the leper’s prayer in Matthew. I pray it every day. The opposite page displays Matthew 7:7-8, “Ask and it will be given to you; knock and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks, it will be opened.” It is true. I have done much asking, seeking, and finding.
God has surrounded me with an incredibly loyal family, an army of friends, and a small but gifted group of doctors committed to see me through. I pray for them.
I bear witness with this post that what Jesus says and promises is true.
